About Ronda
Finca La Marquesa is located in the countryside a 10-minute drive beyond the town of Ronda. Ronda is one of the oldest cities in Spain and also one of the most famous destinations in all of Andalusia. It will charm you with its narrow streets, the impressive 98-metre high Puente Nuevo (New Bridge), houses on the edge of the canyon, and more.
Reminders of its centuries old history can be found on every street corner and along the cobbled passageways of Ronda’s historic old quarter. The famous bullring “Plaza De Toros” is one of the oldest and grandest in Spain, which aroused the interest of people such as Orson Wells and Ernest Hemingway. You’ll find numerous possibilities to learn about the history and culture of Ronda, from the museums to the flamenco history and a historical and cultural agenda, which competes against Spain’s largest cities.
At the Palace you can visit its lovely gardens and a former Arab mine with a stairway cut into the rock, with over 200 steps that descend to the river. And a little further on, you’ll find the Arab Baths. They go back to the 13th century and it has been said that they’re the best preserved on the entire Iberian Peninsula.
The beauty of Ronda is that it’s surrounded by stunning countryside, and you can view the Serrania de Ronda from most points around town. Ronda also has great eco-gastronomic traditions. The Serrania de Ronda wine route unravels through the rugged landscape dotted with family-run boutique wineries where you can sit around a table eating lunch, tasting the wines and listening to the owners tell their story.
Within a short drive from Finca La Marquesa you can be visiting these award-winning wineries, cheese and olive producers. Or experiencing the dramatic scenery, and outdoor activities that Ronda is renowned for. Such as hiking, cycling, river walking and mountaineering.
